EXPECTATIONS OF JOY

By C. William Page

In search of joy to warm my heart
I sweep the yard, I shop the mart
I mop the floor, I wash the window
I cook the cakes, I need a rainbow
The work all done, I rush to sleep
Tomorrow's Christmas, a joy to keep

In dreams aglow, the night recedes
Daybreak arrives, to fill joy needs
Sunshine, snowbright, bird song, so sweet
Oh joy, I see, Oh peace complete!
In things? No never!, my joy demand
Fulfills when my heart touches Jesus' hand.
